WE ARE GREEN KEY !

We are happy and proud that le Gîte des Coteaux has obtained the Green Key label in 2020!

The Green Key label rewards accommodations that are committed to an approach that respects the environment.

Gîte des Coteaux is the countryside in the heart of Liège: a calm and green environment, rich in biodiversity, with a large orchard and an organic vegetable garden.  In particular, we have signed Natagora’s “nature network charter”.

The proximity of the hypercentre, the railway station and the bus station (500 m.) allows guests to do without a car and to make all their trips on foot, by bicycle or by public transport.

The cottage provides secure covered parking for bicycles, as well as a repair and cleaning kit. We are in the process of obtaining the “Bienvenue vélo” label.

We have also implemented a series of measures for an eco-responsible management of resources and energy, while guaranteeing you maximum comfort:

  • Electricity is supplied by our own photovoltaic panels.
  • Lighting and electrical appliances are energy efficient
  • We have opted for sheets and duvet covers that do not require ironing
  • Towels and bath sheets are made of organic cotton
  • The cosmetic products made available to you are eco-labelled
  • We favor local, organic and/or fair trade foodstuffs
  • Cleaning and maintenance products we use are eco-labelled and respectful of the environment
  • We have put in place all the necessary devices for sorting waste and composting organic waste

We look forward to welcoming you to our urban green setting and are counting on your collaboration to make these measures a daily reality during your stay 😉!

WHAT IS GREEN KEY?

AN INTERNATIONAL ECO-LABEL FOR TOURISM & LEISURE

INTERNATIONAL

Green Key is an international label represented on five continents and in 60 countries, from Belgium to South Africa. There are more than 3600 awarded establishments.

ECO-LABEL

Green Key is the first quality label that promotes sustainable travel, business meetings and leisure. Our Green Key establishments are committed to a more sustainable world. Anyone staying at a Green Key site is helping to make a difference on an environmental level, without compromising on comfort or affordability.

TOURISM & LEISURE ACTIVITIES

A Green Key label can be awarded to attractions, B&Bs, holiday homes, campsites, youth hostels, hotels, holiday centres and holiday parks as well as to restaurants, conference centres and venues. There is something for everyone!

WHY GREEN KEY?

A TRANSPARENT QUALITY LABEL THAT PROMOTES SUSTAINABILITY

Green Key rewards establishments that contribute to the development of a more socio-environmental just society. We put them on the map, literally and figuratively, so that tourists can find them.

Green Key operators are already compliant with the high environmental standards in future legislation, which is becoming more and more strict. Sustainability becomes essential for future profitable business models. This creates already today an advantage and a unique selling point for the Green Key establishments.

A POWERFUL TOOL TO REDUCE OUR ECOLOGICAL FOOTPRINT

Green Key supports and unites operators who want to make their organization or establishment more sustainable by keeping them informed of new sustainable practices in the tourism sector. Operators, in turn, share their experiences in the Green Key network.

Green Key presents a framework for sustainable entrepreneurship. Every Green Key operator must meet high standards in terms of management (personnel, administration, communication, policy), waste, energy, food, mobility, energy and cleaning.

Green Key guarantees the guest that the chosen Green Key accommodation systematically reduces its ecological footprint as much as possible. So every leisure consumer who wants to take into account the “sustainability” of our planet can stay at a Green Key establishment.

Green Key strives for climate neutrality in the entire sector of (business) tourism and leisure: managers, employees, suppliers, customers, citizens, cities / municipalities and governments. Tourism and leisure activities largely depend on our environment. We must do everything we can to conserve that environment; the habitat of the “homo touristicus”.
